A Magical Night at the Nutcracker

Women in fancy dresses and men in suits tower over me as I walk in. Elegant music plays as I enter the wide doorway. My aunts and I stand and wait for a moment until an older man asks for our tickets.  As I hand them to him, butterflies of excitement appear in my stomach.  I follow the man and quickly realize I have the most amazing seat in the place, the balcony.  As I sit there, dressed in my best Christmas dress with my two amazing aunts, all I can think about is the play.  Yes, this is the first ballet performance that I have attended.  It is very special night and a wonderful way to spend my ninth birthday. Before I know it, the lights get dimmer and dimmer and the theatre becomes completely silent. All of the sudden the curtains open and a sparkly, multicolored sign appears before my eyes, it reads The Nutcracker.
I sit on the edge of my seat, enthralled with the beautiful ballerinas in their marvelous costumes.  Before I realize that time has past, the lights brighten and I sit back stunned.  All I can talk about is the fantastic dresses and amazing amount of “diamonds” and sparkles that the girls wore.  I knew then that I wanted to make, and wear, stunning clothes with massive amounts of glitter!
